For many years he mowed the grounds and also drove the gas tractor for their annual celebration.įloyd was very gifted as a "fix-it" man and "jack of all trades". From its inception, Floyd enjoyed being a part of the Albert City Thresherman's. Floyd was also actively involved with the Twin Lakes Bible Camp near Manson, Iowa, overseeing many special projects. Floyd and Ruth then became active members of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City where he served in many capacities.

They then attended the Albert City Evangelical Free Church. He and his family worshiped at the Marathon Evangelical Free Church, where he served as chairman of the church board, trustee and Sunday School Teacher, until it closed. Even though he lived in Albert City, Floyd still made daily trips to the farm which was still a very important part of his life.įloyd's faith was an integral part of his life. Floyd resided on that farm until death of his wife, Ruth, in 2011, at which time he moved to the Country Side Living in Albert City. One of the most treasured and shared memories is of Floyd driving his John Deere self-propelled combine from Illinois to Iowa.

In January of 1960, they moved to the Myer family farm near Marathon, but from 1958 until 1960, Floyd farmed that ground traveling back and forth between Illinois and Iowa. Following their marriage, Floyd and Ruth farmed near Emmetsburg, Iowa for two years before moving to Utica, Illinois where they were engaged in farming for eight years. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of arrangements.įloyd Myer, the son of George Herbert and Margaret (Heilman) Myer, was born in Wallace Township, Illinois on October 13, 1922. Floyd Myer, age 94, of Marathon, Iowa died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.įuneral services will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon.
